Breathedge 2 Known Issues and Fixes: 0x11C7 and Crashes

Game will not start: Steam error 0x11C7

The developers’ pinned post explains it. Windows 11’s Smart App Control blocks executables whose digital signature Microsoft has not yet seen widely used — which is every fresh game build for a while. “The error doesn’t mean the game is unsafe, that your files are corrupted, or that anything is wrong with your PC. It resolves on its own as the build’s reputation builds up, and turning Smart App Control off fixes it right away.” Every hotfix restarts the clock, so expect it again after updates on affected PCs.

Crash at the end of the chapter (shader compilation)

One player’s game closed at the chapter’s final scene with an Unreal Engine “Shader compilation failures are Fatal” log. The developer’s replies, in order: reproduce and send the log copied to the clipboard; delete the shader cache file under AppData/Local/Breathedge2/Saved; check whether DLSS is on. What worked for the player: V-sync on and Ultra dropped to High, after which the Continue/Wishlist screen appeared.

Controls

  • AZERTY keyboards — listed as a known issue in Hotfix 0.8.5; fix promised in an upcoming update.
  • Gamepad switching on and locking out the keyboard — fixed in 0.8.6.
  • Invisible mouse cursor in menus with a yoke, wheel or pedals connected — fixed in 0.8.6.
  • Camera locked to horizontal after clicking the train lamp — fixed in 0.8.5.
  • Y-axis inversion — promised after the demo (“YES-YES-YES WE’LL ADD Y-AXIS INVERSION”).
  • Controller glyphs — a forum request to force controller prompts is open.

”I cannot repair this”

Several doors show a repair icon with no way to act on it (back of the train, a room “with slime and a gamer”, the police-station tube), and the upgraded Twister that one door demands cannot be crafted (the basic Twister blueprint can be found). Tools and armour cannot be repaired either, even though a repair bar exists. These are Early Access boundaries rather than bugs; see the DIY guide.

Quest bugs fixed already

Clay statue balls getting stuck (0.8.5), the Zarya antenna trapping the character (0.8.5), loudspeaker markers (0.8.5), ice on the 10G antenna and station door not counting (0.8.6), the station robot not leaving its door after a death during the first dialogue (0.8.6), the hatch battery accepting any battery (0.8.6). Full lists on patch notes.

Resources hard to see

There should be a thin white outline plus a thicker white circle on anything you can gather. A 3440×1440 ultrawide player reports needing to be very close before the highlight shows; the developer asked about setup, so treat it as a known report.

Saves

AppData/Local/Breathedge2/Saved/SaveGames, with Steam Cloud enabled. The studio says it is trying to avoid wipes during Early Access.

Reporting

Esc → Report Bug in game, attach the save with the toggle at the bottom, and add an email if you want the programmers to follow up. Or [email protected].
