Breathedge 2 Tools & Gear: All 5 Tools and Upgrade Slots
Checked:
| Tool | Type | What it does | Upgrade slots | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scrap | Crowbar | Breaks ice, cans, barrels, debris and cable growths; the basic weapon | Handle (Bone), Heft (Gear +10, Barbell plate +20) | “Honorary vandal” counts 200 objects broken with it. A red-hot iron upgrade adds heat damage to melt ice (developer post, Apr 2026). |
| Thumper | Impact tool | Heavier hits for stubborn objects | Edge (Scissors +12, Jaws +15) | — |
| Cutter | Cutting tool | Cuts cables and panels; needed for the signal-jammer route | Edge (Scissors +5, Jaws +10) | Crafting it before the kettle is the classic plastic soft-lock. |
| Probe | Extraction tool | Pulls wires out of electrical panels and alkali out of mole burrows | None in the Early Access build | — |
| Wrench | Unscrewing tool | Bolts, light bulbs, the shuttle’s parts | None in the Early Access build | The demo recipe needed refined metal and aluminum. |
| Twister | Craftable (blueprint find) | Unscrews the fittings the Wrench cannot; the blueprint has to be found in the world before the workbench lists it | None seen | A Game Guides Channel video shows the Twister blueprint location. Separately, a door near the start asks for an *upgraded* Twister, which the workbench does not offer — that part is the Early Access boundary. |
| Drill | Placeable extractor | Extracts aluminum, titanium and other minerals from asteroid deposits; needs a battery | — | Pick deposits you actually need before burning energy. |
| Accelerator | Movement | Faster travel, less exposure, less resource drain per trip | — | Adopt it the moment it unlocks. |
| Flashlight | Craftable | Light in the frozen lower areas | — | Uses the refined metal found in the frozen zone. |
| Sui’s grabber arm | Suit AI | Moves heavy objects, rips off panels, grabs distant items and holds things while you hit them | Upgradeable (developer post) | Sui rides on your back this time; the “extended arm grabby thing” is the most praised control in reviews. |

Crafting order that avoids the soft-lock
- Scrap first (it is your weapon and your ice breaker).
- Repair the Kettle Bobby and Nutri-Pack-O-Mat on the train before spending plastic on anything else — the Cutter-before-kettle order is the forum's most common "did I soft-lock myself" post.
- Probe, then Wrench (the demo recipe wanted refined metal and aluminum; see resources).
- Cutter and Thumper when you have plastic and metal to spare; then module them at the workbench.
